Global warming has been a serious problem that haunts us since human started to be active in all kinds of industrial activities, we cut off trees to build houses, we invented vehicles that emitted green house gasses, we even burned down forests for farming purposes. Thus, what we have done lead us to the problem of drastic climate change, chaos, such as typhoons, floods and droughts are happening every year, and that has threaten the life’s of the people living on earth. Now, every country is seeing to this problem and some has started carrying out policies to try save the earth. For my country, Malaysia, the government is trying hard to carry out two policies, controlled deforestation activities and reduced emission of green house gasses by vehicles.
The government of Malaysia started to reduce the number of lessens issued to the land developers for caring out deforestation. Those land developers are also needed to obey the new policy, that is, the number of trees is replanted should be equal or more than the number of trees being cut down. This will help to maintain the low level of carbon dioxide. Besides that, Malaysia government also set up strict rules like banning the usage of fire for clearing land, and those who were found carrying out open burning shall be fined a huge amount of money. Idle land also is being replanted with trees and oil palms to help maintain the moisture and the level of oxygen in the air.
On the other hand, Malaysia is upgrading the services of public transports, the purpose of this is to encourage the people to use public transport instead of driving themselves. Public transports like LRT (Light Rail Transit) and commuters were built because they do not emit carbon dioxide, and the tickets are cheap to attract more passengers. People are also encouraged to share their transport when they are going to work or travel. This will help on reducing the amount of traffic jams during peak hours and more importantly, reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and other harmful green house gasses.
In my opinion, everybody have the responsibility to do something to save Mother Nature. I’m sure everyone does not wish to see our future earth to turn into a dreadful place to live in. So, let’s wait no more, start planting trees and stop global warming from getting more and more serious.
