EG1471 e-portfolio 1

Throughout history, engineers had been there to solve daily life problems and accomplish human needs. Since the society is getting more and more advance, technology used are getting more and more complicated, engineers need to work harder as the problem in daily life is getting tougher to be solved. Engineering courses given by universities nowadays will help all the engineering undergraduates to develop the ability to analyze complex information systematically and thus apply a systematic approach in designing solutions.

The main part of engineering is to know how to analyze problems occurred. First of all, engineers need good skills in both math and physic because the two subjects is the main core to help engineers calculating all those figures and numbers occurred during their encounter with problems in fields like financial, investment, development of buildings, building electronic devices and creating new technology. Besides that, to be effective in analyzing data, engineers should develop a strong base of programming skill, so that they can build computer programs that able to help them on analyzing complex information or data correctly and accurately.

The other important part about engineering is about having a systematic approach in designing solutions for respective problems. Due to the complexity of the problems in daily life, an engineer should have a mind set to think generally, logically, be sharp and concise. While designing a solution, engineers need to think about all the consequences that will happen and try to solve it one by one. Engineers will also need to be patient because there will be times where engineers have to struggle or in other words, troubleshooting a few times to obtain satisfied results.

With both analytical skill and systematically thinking, engineers can involve themselves in many fields. For me, I believe that, in the future, in any fields, there will be engineers to do the job.
